Circuits, hotels, excursions and transfers in Puerto Montt.
CircuitsHotelsExcursions
Puerto Montt is the gateway to the Los Lagos Region and southern Chile, an active port where the fjord route, cruise traffic and the start of the Carretera Austral converge. More a functional city than a destination in itself, it plays an essential logistical role.
Within a program it is used as a connecting node toward Puerto Varas, Lake Llanquihue, Chiloé and southern Patagonia, rather than as an extended stay.
Southern Chile has a rainy, temperate climate for much of the year. The southern summer (December–March) offers the longest, most settled days, ideal for navigations and excursions. Winter is wet with short days; spring and autumn are variable but green and less crowded.
MICE & groups
Puerto Montt plays a logistical and connecting role rather than that of an event venue, with hotels geared to business and transit. For groups, Puerto Varas is usually preferred as a base for its lakeside setting. It works as an embarkation point for navigations and group transfers.
Incentives
Incentive experiences revolve around fjord navigations, outings on Lake Llanquihue and extensions toward Chiloé and the Carretera Austral. The city operates as a logistical base for these activities rather than a setting in itself. It is enhanced by combining it with Puerto Varas.
Access & logistics
Reached via El Tepual airport (PMC), around 15 km from the city, with frequent domestic connections from Santiago (SCL). It is a cruise port and embarkation point for navigations, as well as the start of the Carretera Austral. Puerto Varas is about 20 minutes away by road.
Trade notes
Usually programmed as one night or a connecting base, with the main stay in Puerto Varas. It links the Los Lagos Region with Chiloé and, cross-border, with Bariloche (Argentina) via the lake crossing. Good fit with southern nature circuits.

Booking & policies
Are the prices shown net or retail?
Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the agency portal.
How is a booking confirmed?
Most bookings are confirmed immediately and the voucher is emailed within minutes. When a service shows “In process”, RUMBO LIBRE is confirming final availability with the receptive operator at destination — usually within 24 to 48 business hours.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those confirmed in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a supplier applies its own policy.
Can dates or passenger names be changed after confirmation?
Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed with the receptive operator subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
