Circuits Hotels Excursions

Manaus is the capital of Amazonas and the main gateway to the Brazilian Amazon, set where the dark Rio Negro meets the sandy Solimões at the Meeting of the Waters. The city itself preserves rubber-boom landmarks such as the Amazonas Opera House, but its real value is as a hub for jungle lodges and river cruises upstream and along its tributaries. Programs typically pair a night in the city with two to three nights at a rainforest lodge.

Destination guide for the trade

When to go

Hot and humid year-round, near the equator. The high-water season (roughly December–May) floods the forest and favours canoe navigation among the trees; the low-water season (roughly July–November) exposes river beaches and suits hiking and wildlife spotting. There is no bad season, only different experiences.

MICE & groups

Manaus suits incentive groups and expedition-style programs rather than large congresses, though the city has a convention centre and business hotels. Jungle lodges offer intimate, exclusive settings for small groups. The draw is the experience rather than large-scale meeting capacity.

Incentives

Signature rewards include private jungle-lodge charters, sunrise canoe trips through the flooded forest, piranha fishing, meetings with riverside communities and the Meeting of the Waters by private boat. A gala evening at the Amazonas Opera House is a rare, high-impact option.

Access & logistics

Eduardo Gomes International (MAO) connects mainly through São Paulo, Brasília and Brazilian hubs, with some regional international service; it also handles Amazon cargo. From the airport, transfers combine road and river to reach lodges, ranging from about one to four hours depending on the property.

Trade notes

Budget three to four nights in total to make the Amazon worthwhile. Manaus combines with Rio and Iguaçu for a nature-plus-icons itinerary and appeals strongly to European and North American nature markets. Lodge capacity is limited, so book early.

Useful information

Recommended stay: 1 city night plus 2–3 nights at a jungle lodge or on a river cruise.

Airport: Manaus/Eduardo Gomes (MAO), with domestic links and some international flights.

Lodges are reached by road-plus-boat transfers of 1–4 hours.

Yellow-fever vaccination is advised for the Amazon; check current requirements.

Bring light clothing, rain protection and insect repellent.

Booking & policies

Are the prices shown net or retail?

Rates are net (wholesale) and reserved for travel agencies and tour operators, who sign in to see them and add their own margin. Public visitors see an indicative retail “from” price; the net rate is never shown outside the agency portal.

How is a booking confirmed?

Most bookings are confirmed immediately and the voucher is emailed within minutes. When a service shows “In process”, RUMBO LIBRE is confirming final availability with the receptive operator at destination — usually within 24 to 48 business hours.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations follow Clause 7 of the Terms: more than 30 days before the service, no penalty and a full refund; 15 to 30 days, 25%; 8 to 14 days, 50%; 3 to 7 days, 75%; less than 72 hours before commencement or a no-show, 100%. Certain destinations — Patagonia, the Amazon region and high-demand dates in peak season — apply stricter terms, stated in the quotation. The schedule above is indicative: the conditions that apply to each booking are those confirmed in the quotation, and may be stricter in high season, on public holidays or where a supplier applies its own policy.

Can dates or passenger names be changed after confirmation?

Amendment requests must reach RUMBO LIBRE at least 72 business hours before the service begins. Changes are managed with the receptive operator subject to availability, and any resulting rate difference applies. For private services, a name change may require re-issuing the booking at the current rate.
